“C” appellations

Crépy

A small appellation on the shores of Lake Geneva known for producing wines favored by those hitting the slopes of the nearby Alps. Crépy produces only white wine from the Chasselas grape, though two local versions of the varietal exist- the Roux and the Vert. Neither produces particularly interesting wines, and since there is very little of it and Crépy usually has a higher price tag than many of its neighbors, the attraction to this little AOC is more for Geneva and the mountains where the grapes grow than for the wine themselves. Still, if you would really like one, you will find the wines of Crépy to be light, crisp and floral. The best have a slight spritz, and are aged sur lie.
