Formerly a cattle grazing area, San Lucas is now home to nearly 8,000 acres of vines. The dominant varities planted here are Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc. San Lucas is located in the southern portion of Monterey County, California. It has elevations ranging from 500 feet to 1,200 feet, with soil composed of diatomaceous shale and sand stone.
