“S” appellations

San Ysidro District

While the San Ysidro District AVA has no wineries of its own, it is known as a great source of fruit for Santa Clara wineries. Fog and breezes blow in from the Pacific and follow the Pajaro River to San Ysidro, keeping it much cooler than the rest of the valley. The primary grape varieties grown here are Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Merlot.
