“L” appellations

Los Carneros

Literally translated from Spanish as "The Rams," Los Carneros extends across the southern parts of Napa County and Sonoma County on the coast of San Pablo Bay. Cool winds whip off the bay and into the appellation, bringing a quick-moving fog that saunters over the area and leaving little in the way of topsoil. The climate is ideal for varietals that prefer cooler growing conditions, making the area a great place to grow Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
