Appellation Details

The San Andreas fault line runs straight down the middle of Cienega Valley; soil on the east side of the fault line consists of granite and sandstone, while the western soil consists of granite and limestone. DeRose Vineyards and Pietra Santa Winery are the only two wineries in Cienega Valley, which holds one sub-appellation, Limekiln Valley.
