Kerner

A hybrid grape created in Germany in 1969 from a crossing of Riesling and Trollinger. Now it is quite the success story as it is grown throughout Germany. Known for being particularily successful no matter where it is grown, Kerner is very similar to Riesling in body, acidity and ripeness. Kerner has aromas of fresh herbs and lemons, while flavors of grapefruits and minerals are the norm.

Kerner is common throughout Germany, though it is also found in South Africa and grows very well in the cooler climates around the Great Lakes of North America.
