The most widely planted varietal in Greece. Used mainly in the production of Retsina, the ancient and still popular resin-flavored wine of Greece. Savatiano is a vigorous varietal, with notoriously low levels of acidity and a citrus and nut character. It is reported that interesting dry versions can be made from excellent sites if yields are kept low.
