Grape Information

A varietal that has gained both fame and widespread use because of its high productivity and useful natural acidity, Ugni Blanc can only be described as bland or neutral. Despite being the one of the most widely grown grapes in the world, Ugni Blanc has never been known for any distinguishing characteristics. Used as a base for white wine blends throughout Italy, France and Spain, as well as the initial ingredient in many brandies and Cognacs. Ugni Blanc is the most planted varietal in France and Italy (where it is known as Trebbiano). Also found in Portugal as Thalia, in California as St. Emilion, and as Procanico in Umbria.
