Harriague

A synonym used in Uruguay for the Tannat varietal, a tough and rustic grape that can produce heavy and tannic red wines. Tannat is at the center of a revival of sorts of Uruguay's wine industry. If yields are low and at high elevations Tannat can be coaxed to produce some very rich reds that take well to oak and can last for a decade or longer.
