Huxelrube

A German hybrid created by crossing the Chasselas with a variety of Muscat. Known for huge yields and not so huge flavor. The Huxelrube can achieve high levels of both ripeness and sugar. This has made it somewhat successful in England where high levels of acidity are common so the high sugar levels are beneficial to balance. The best examples come from the Pfalz and Rheinhessen regions of Germany where it can produce pleasant wines similar in style to Muscat and are best consumed young.
