Gruet et Fils

Gruet et Fils was founded in 1952 in the Champagne region of France. Gilbert Gruet grew up on a small farm just outside the town of Bethon, and decided to plant Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vines when his parents handed him the land. Gilbert produced his first batch of Gruet et Fils Champagne in 1956.

His success required expansion, and because the land in Champagne was so expensive Gilbert set his sights on New Mexico in the United States. In 1984, his son Laurent purchased a vineyard near Elephant Butte reservoir, and founded Gruet Winery in Albuquerque, which is located 3 hours north of the vineyard. Gruet et Fils is now managed by Gilbert's daughter Jacqueline and her husband, Bruno.
