“C” appellations

Crémant de Bordeaux

The appellation used to denote a sparkling wine produced in the large Bordeaux AC. Usually made by the Traditional or Champagne method, these wines are very rare even in Bordeaux. Using any of the grapes permitted in both red and white Bordeaux, as well as up to 10% of the more obscure varietals that are also grown in the area but not permitted in any of the smaller appellation wines, Crémant de Bordeaux can be either white or rosé in color.
