Coteaux de l'Ardèche

Located to the west of the Rhône Valley, the Coteaux de l'Ardèche is a Vin du Pays region that is barren and rugged, and is known for its long, hot growing season. The Ardèche river runs through these limestone foothills on which the Romans were the first to plant vineyards. Chalk-clay soils make this an intriguing region for Chardonnay producers who are trying to duplicate Burgundy's success in the south.
